365 days. And what an incredible year it’s been! On this day last year, April 9, 2017, I returned home from my 5-month jaunt to South America. I have no problem admitting that I was homesick and missed family and friends like never before. I craved NJ. That’s something only a select few can ever sayContinue reading “One Year”

The Return: (North) ‘Merica
Well, it’s late July. Not sure exactly how time travels so quickly but if we could monetize that speed none of us would need to work ever again. In this short time, I realized a few things. First, I kinda sorta needed a job. Second, a shower and haircut were imminent. And third, I wasContinue reading “The Return: (North) ‘Merica”
Riding North
An illustrious half week in Futaleufu filled with camping, rafting, and lots of outdoors led to some pangs of desire for urban life. I had been in the lesser populated and incredibly beautiful nature I so desperately craved coming from the graveled earth of the NYC metro area. But now, I wanted that city experience again.Continue reading “Riding North”
The Road to Futaleufu
It was back to two backpacks now. The nice part about hiking for 8 days is that you only need to bring one. I left the other in the hotel. Clamoring to the bus station, I rode to Punta Arenas. Another coastal town about 4 hours further south. It was here, the following morning, thatContinue reading “The Road to Futaleufu”
A Final Ride in Patagonia
We woke up in our last night of Torres del Paine national park feeling refreshed and a bit excited to be back in puerto natales that night. But there was plenty left to do before that! We got up and had breakfast quickly before Ann and I walked down to the kayaking area. We walkedContinue reading “A Final Ride in Patagonia “
A Surprise
So I know that I’ve been counting down the days and the plan was to arrive on April 24. However, I lied. And it worked. My family never saw it coming but I flew in yesterday to NYC after spending a beautiful week in Haiti. More on that in a future post. Sunday dinners areContinue reading “A Surprise”

6. Spending time in Bariloche with new friends hiking, swimming, hitchhiking, and enjoying the scenery. The views of this Lake District hub in Argentina were stunning. It didn’t hurt to make some great friends along the way in Esquel and some of the other smaller towns along the way. Lots of time for reflection atContinue reading “6 Days”

7. Meeting my mom in Buenos Aires and hiking throughout the lakes district. Speaking of appreciating people, seeing my mom after 2 months without her was just as incredible. It’s repetitive but worthwhile. Appreciate the good people in your life with love to give and receive.

8. Seeing Vanessa come through the gate in Colombia. There’s nothing quite like seeing a loved one after a long time with a long distance. That time came to an end twice during this trip, in Colombia and back in NYC. It’s a great way to remember to appreciate those who mean so much inContinue reading “8 Days”
The Road Less Traveled
We began the next morning of our hike through Torres del Paine with a beautiful breakfast of eggs, toast, and fire glazed granite towers made possible by a glowing sunrise. We may not have had the picture perfect view of the Torres de Paine when we hiked to the viewpoint the day before, but weContinue reading “The Road Less Traveled”
